Not much is known about this species or even if this specimen is truly intercedens. Opistophthalmus, like all genera of scorpions found in Southern Africa, are poorly studied and the dividing lines of what constitutes a species is always in question. South Africa still possess many areas of geographical interest that have not been surveyed for scorpions; so there are still species out there unknown to science.
